Jo Truman – Artist in Residence
25 January – 24 February 2013
The 2013 WVAC Artist in Residence is Jo Truman, an established multi-modal artist working in a professional capacity as a sound artist/composer and visual artist. For her residency projects she plans to bring together both the visual and auditory in the form of an exhibition of drawings and accompanying sound installation. Jo works with the narrative of ‘decay’. She writes: ‘Decay is a natural part of the life cycle. In the organic life of plants and animals, decay is a process that makes way for new growth. For me this process is beautiful. But in our quest for infinite growth, humans have created casualties. This is evident in the rate of extinction of other species.’
